Built for the demands of modern fitness

Commercial gyms require a zoned approach to flooring. A single product cannot meet the acoustic demands of a heavy lifting platform, the traction needed for a sprint track, and the aesthetic requirements of a reception area simultaneously.

Superstrata provides a complete system of specification-grade surfaces designed to work together across your entire facility — from the free weights floor to the functional training zone, cardio deck, and specialist combat area.

Every product is backed by full technical documentation: NBS clauses, fire test certificates, acoustic test data, and installation guides — ready for your tender documents from day one.

Engineered for every training zone

Different areas of a commercial gym place fundamentally different demands on flooring. Our zone planning approach ensures the right product is specified for every area — balancing performance, aesthetics, and budget.

Free Weights & Olympic Lifting

The highest-impact zone in any facility. Dropped barbells, loaded plates, and constant heavy foot traffic demand maximum thickness, shock absorption, and subfloor protection. Acoustic isolation is critical in mixed-use or upper-storey installations.

Recommended Products

Functional Training & CrossFit

Versatility is paramount. This zone sees rope slams, box jumps, kettlebell work, and burpees — requiring a surface that absorbs moderate impact, provides excellent traction, resists abrasion, and is available in a wide range of colours to match your brand identity.

Recommended Products

Cardio & Machine Zones

Treadmills, bikes, and rowers require a stable, vibration-dampening surface that protects both the equipment and the subfloor. Roll format provides seamless, continuous coverage across large areas with minimal joins — ideal for the clean aesthetic of a premium cardio deck.

Recommended Products

Sprint Tracks & Sled Lanes

Sprint and sled tracks demand a surface that provides high traction for athletes whilst offering low friction for sled movement. Machine-tufted lane markings eliminate the need for painted lines, maintaining a professional appearance throughout the product's lifetime.

Why leading operators specify Superstrata

Consistent multi-site supply

Over 15,000m² held in UK stock at all times, with direct supply from European manufacturers for larger orders. We can guarantee consistent batch colour and specification across all locations in a multi-site rollout — critical for national gym operators and hotel groups.

Specification-grade documentation

Every product ships with a full Technical Data Sheet, NBS specification clause, installation guide, and maintenance schedule. Fire test certificates (EF1 and Cfl-s1 where applicable), acoustic test data, and slip resistance results are available on request — everything your tender documents require.

Acoustic compliance for mixed-use buildings

Gyms in mixed-use developments and upper-storey locations face strict Building Regulation requirements for impact sound transmission. Our Shield acoustic underlay system, installed beneath Titan or Pulse, delivers up to 28dB of impact sound reduction — addressing Approved Document E requirements directly.

Samples within 48 hours

Physical sample packs with Superstrata branding, technical data sheets, and specification references are dispatched within 48 hours. Sample boards for client and architect presentations are available on request — keeping your project timeline on track from the very first meeting.

Frequently asked questions

What thickness of rubber flooring do I need for a free weights zone?

For a standard free weights area with dumbbells up to 50kg, Titan 30mm is the standard specification. For Olympic lifting platforms where barbells loaded to 200kg+ may be dropped from height, Titan 40mm is recommended. The 40mm variant withstands drops up to 250kg and provides additional subfloor protection for concrete or timber substrates.

Do I need acoustic underlay in a ground-floor gym?

For ground-floor installations on a concrete slab, acoustic underlay is generally not required from a Building Regulation standpoint. However, Shield underlay can still be beneficial for reducing vibration transmission into the structure and improving the underfoot feel of the flooring system. For upper-storey or mixed-use buildings, Shield is strongly recommended to address Approved Document E requirements.

Can you supply consistent product across multiple gym locations?

Yes. We hold over 15,000m² in UK stock and work directly with European manufacturers for larger orders. For multi-site rollouts, we can coordinate phased deliveries to match your construction programme and guarantee batch-matched colour consistency across all locations. We have supplied national gym chains, hotel groups, and education estates on this basis.

What documentation do you provide for a commercial gym specification?

Every product ships with a full Technical Data Sheet, NBS specification clause, installation guide, and maintenance schedule. Fire test certificates, acoustic test data (EN ISO 717-2), shock absorption results (EN 14808), and slip resistance data are all available on request. Specification packs are dispatched within 48 hours of request.

How quickly can I get samples for a client presentation?

Standard sample packs — including physical product samples with Superstrata branding and technical data sheets — are dispatched within 48 hours. For architect and client presentations, we can prepare branded sample boards on request. Contact us with your project timeline and we will ensure samples arrive in time for your meeting.
