1. Preparation & acclimatisation
Proper preparation is critical to the performance and longevity of the Superstrata system. The subfloor must be structurally sound, clean, dry and flat.
Remove all dust, debris and moisture from the site.
Ensure concrete subfloors are fully cured and moisture levels are within acceptable limits.
Unpack and lay the flooring out 24 hours prior to installation to allow for acclimatisation.
2. Required tools
- Utility knife
- Chalk line
- Straight edge
- Rubber mallet
- Adhesive (if applicable)
3. Installation method
- Plot a chalk line or laser line in the centre of the area and lay a central row alongside the chalk line.
- If gluing to the subfloor (recommended), always use an authorised adhesive or double-sided tape. Fix each row in line with the instructions in the adhesive manual or packaging.
- Make sure to install the adjacent row, corner to corner, following the jigsaw pattern of the tile.
- Push the tiles in and close the seams. Use a rubber mallet if needed.
- Work your way in rows towards the left and right outer sides of the area.
- Finish the complete tiles first; only then start laying the tiles that need to be cut.
- Measure the remaining space where the cut tile has to fit using a straight-edge ruler.
- Mark the cutting lines and cut them with a Stanley hooked knife. Then place the final tiles in firmly.
- Close all seams.
4. Maintenance & cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and aesthetic appearance of your Superstrata floor.
- Daily: Vacuum or sweep to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Weekly: Damp mop using a pH-neutral floor cleaner diluted in warm water. Do not use excessive water.
- Deep clean: For commercial environments, use a cylindrical brush scrubber dryer machine periodically.
- Avoid: Never use bleach, solvents, acidic cleaners, or petroleum-based products as these will degrade the rubber.
